The ASPIRE at Arredondo gifted program employs a competency-based instructional approach to meet the diverse needs of gifted learners. This method allows for a flexible learning environment where students progress based on demonstrated mastery. Through project-based learning, students engage in deep exploration of topics, seamlessly integrating academic standards across various subject areas.

Beyond opportunities for academic acceleration, ASPIRE Arredondo emphasizes the development of essential durable skills. These skills are intentionally woven into the student experience, preparing learners not only for academic challenges but also for the complexities of a rapidly changing world, fostering well-rounded individuals ready to contribute meaningfully to their communities.

ASPIRE utilizes supplemental resources specifically targeted to meet the needs of the gifted.

Tempe Elementary Schools currently uses the Harcourt Journeys core reading program to teach ELA standards, which includes all of the components of Early Literacy Skills: Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Vocabulary, Fluency, and Comprehension.

The comprehensive reading program consists of a 90-minute daily core reading block, including both whole and small group instruction.

Tempe Elementary Schools provides all students in grades K-5 Physical Education classes two times a week for 30 minutes.

All instruction is aligned to Arizona Physical Education State Standards. Tempe Elementary Physical Education teachers in the Tempe Elementary School District are appropriately certified and provide both physical and gross motor activities for students.
